Information We Collect

When you use Where in the World, we may collect the following information:

Apple ID Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user identifier and, optionally, your name and email address. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your real email.
Photos & Location Data: When you add a place, you provide a map pin location, place name, description, and photos. Photos are processed and stored on our servers.
Username & Profile: You choose a public username that becomes part of your profile URL.

How We Use Your Information

To create and maintain your account
To display your travel map and photos on your public profile
To enable social features like adding friends
To process subscription payments through Apple's App Store

Data Storage

Your data is stored on our private servers. Photos are processed (resized and compressed) before storage. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

Public Information

Your username, display name, places, and photos are publicly visible on your profile page. Do not upload photos or information you wish to keep private.

Third-Party Services

Apple Sign In: Authentication is handled by Apple. We do not store your Apple ID password.
Apple App Store: Subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store payment information.
Cloudflare: We use Cloudflare for DNS and security. Cloudflare may process connection metadata in accordance with their privacy policy.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete a place, all associated photos are permanently removed from our servers. When you delete your account, all your data — including places, photos, and profile information — is permanently deleted.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data through the app or your public profile
Delete individual places and photos at any time
Delete your entire account and all associated data
Request a copy of your data by contacting us

Children's Privacy

Where in the World is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or website.
